According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO), on June 11, 2025, deputies responded to the Love’s Travel Center and the 419 Rest Area on I-40 for a report of suspects targeting truckers.
“These victims would be approached by (1) suspect and escorted to a group of other co-conspirators. The victims would be asked to play a betting game, and the victim would be conned out of their money and jewelry,” JCSO said.
